Greenlight acquires Charlie Chaplin

The image rights firm adds the silent movie star to its portfolio of iconic Hollywood stars.

Greenlight will now represent Charlie Chaplin in ‘most territories’, managing advertising, promotion and merchandising, with access to the actor’s name, nickname, image, likeness, signature and trademarks.

The deal also includes access to images from Chaplin's famous films.

David Reeder, VP of Greenlight, said: "We are excited to represet a man and an icon who is as dynamic and appealing as he is fun and intriguing. Charlie Chaplin's The Tramp character is recognised by millions as a symbol of defiance, comedy and rebellion."

Josephine Chaplin said: “We are delighted to collaborate with Greenlight, who already represents some of history’s timeless icons.

"We are confident that their experience and worldwide reach will enhance the Chaplin brand.”

Greenlight currently holds the image rights for Bruce Lee, Steve McQueen, Johnny Cash and Muhammad Ali.
