Fictional adventurer Grizzly Adams is exploring new terrain in the form of a raft of new licensing, publishing and multi-media deals.

Licensing firm Abrams Artists Agency has signed a new deal to manage the licensing, publishing and television rights for the classic brand that inspired both a hit movie and TV series back in the 1970s.

Under the new partnership, Abrams Artists Agency’s licensing division will collaborate with veteran producer Tod Swindell, the owner of Grizzly Adams band rights.

Swindell played a major part in the success of the 1974 feature film The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams that grossed more than $45million. The film was adapted into a popular TV series in 1977 and 1978.

The original Grizly Adams franchise generated more than $140million in gross revenue through its licensed products.

“Grizzly Adams is an iconic outdoorsman, and both his real history and his legend remains an inspiration that influence contemporary popular culture,” said Harry Abrams, CEO of Abrams Artists Agency.

“As such an amazing part of American history, Grizzly Adams presents a great opportunity to create a robust lifestyle brand with strong appeal to today’s consumers.”
