Cookie Jar Group is to become the exclusive global licensing agent for Harlem Globetrotters - and has plans which could bring the brand back to animated TV for the first time in 30 years.

The firm's licensing division, CPLG, will oversee a multi-tiered licensing programme which will aim to reflect the team's generational appeal. It will initially target fans who grow up with the Globetrotters with a range of products including vintage apparel and collectibles.

A licensing drive will also be created aimed at the new generation of fans featuring sporting goods, trading cards and interactive games.

Cookie Jar Entertainment, meanwhile, will develop animated entertainment for the brand.

"This is a tremendously exciting partnership for us," said Kurt Schneider, CEO of the Harlem Globetrotters.

Kirk Bloomgarden, EVP, worldwide consumer products at Cookie Jar, added: "We look forward to building on the success and equity of the Harlem Globetrotters brand with a full complement of consumer products and entertainment for fans of all ages."
