HarperCollins Children's Books has signed a world rights deal with Meomi, the creative partnership behind The Octonauts.
The firm has inked a two-book deal in the Octonauts classic picture book range. The deal secures HarperCollins UK world rights in the original - incorporating book, audio and electronic formats.
The first of the new titles is due for release in the autumn and will be a gift book, while the second will be a brand new deep sea adventure picture book.
"We are proud to have published the classic Octonauts picture books so successfully in the UK, and are now completely thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate directly with the brilliantly imaginative Vicki and Michael [from Meomi]," said Helen MacKenzie Smith, picture books editorial director at HarperCollins.
"We look forward to working with them to extend the world of their dynamic and irresistible crew of environmentally-aware characters."
The first four picture books created by Vicki Wong and Michael Murphy inspired the animated TV series of The Octonauts. The classic picture books achieved sales of almost 200,000 in the UK in 2011.
