HarperCollins Children's Books has hired a new divisional sales director - with Brigid Nelson arriving at the firm in the New Year.

Nelson has spent the last ten years at Penguin, most recently as children's product director with responsibility for the Puffin, Ladybird, Sunbird, BBC Children's and Frederick Warne imprints.

"We are absolutely delighted to have Brigid joining our team," said Oliver Wright, group sales director at HarperCollins. "She will bring a wealth of experience to our list, as well as her passion to work with our fantastic authors and build on the success of our number one bestsellers this autumn."

Nelson added: "The children's market is such an opportunity for all of us and I'm very much looking forward to the ten years ahead."
