Hasbro's profit from licensing arm grows 24%

Toy firm generated $53.2 million from division last year.

Hasbro has seen its entertainment and licensing arm grow 24 per cent in 2012 in terms of operating profit.

Net revenues increased 12 per cent to $181.4 million, compared to $162.2 million in 2011.

The segment reported 24 per cent operating profit growth to $53.2 million, compared to $42.8 million in 2011.

"The segment continued to benefit from the sale of television programming in all formats in the US and internationally offset by lower movie-related revenues," read a statement.

The news comes as part of Hasbro's full-year 2012 financial report, where it reported a slight drop in profit following "challenging" Christmas sales

Furby also boosts Hasbro's girls business by seven per cent.
