HIP adds Lauren Hutton to portfolio

Henson Independent Properties to spearhead global campaign for model and entertainer.

The new banner for The Jim Henson Company, Henson Independent Properties is to develop a global licensing campaign for model and entertainer, Lauren Hutton.

The new line of consumer products will be aimed at women over 40 and will launch globally in 2012. Focus will be on key categories including apparel, eyewear, jewellery, handbags, luggage, home décor, travel and beauty accessories.

"Lauren Hutton is renowned as a trailblazer who continues to defy society's expectations of what defines a model and a woman," said Melissa Segal, SVP, global consumer products at HIP. "The Lauren Hutton brand presents a tremendous opportunity to reach a large and underserved demographic of women who will relate to the active and independent spirit of Ms Huton that is reflected in the new line."

Hutton began modelling in the 1960s and in 1974 was the first model to land a million dollar, multi-year contract with a cosmetics company. In 2002, she launched her own direct to consumer cosmetics line - Good Stuff - while she has also starred in films including American Gigolo, The Gambler and The Joneses.
