Hit Entertainment is to launch the next Thomas & Friends full length movie in September in the UK, with the DVD release backed up by a raft of new product from major licensees across the globe.
Day of the Diesels will be released by Lionsgate Home Entertainment in the autumn in the US; on September 26th in the UK; and across other international territories including Australia, Germany, Benelux and Spanish-speaking territories in Latin America by the end of 2011.
The 60-minute movie will introduce four new characters and reintroduce Diesel 10. The diesel version of Sodor Steamworks will also be debuted.
Key global partners such as Fisher-Price, Learning Curve and Mega Bloks will support the launch, while regional partners worldwide will introduce Day of the Diesels themed products. The event will also be supported at retail level, plus with live events, broadcast, digital and social media.
There will be more than 75 tie-in products including books, games, engines, play-sets, apparel, bedding and accessories. Mobile and tablet applications are also scheduled for 2011.
Beginning from March, Day of the Diesels will be promoted at Day Out with Thomas events in North America and in the UK, with a free Steamies vs Diesels activity booklet. Hit will also distribute The Ultimate Diesel Guide in the US and the UK, a commemorative book showcasing Diesel engines at Thomas & Friends live and retail events and in Thomas & Friends DVDs.
A Day of the Diesels microsite will also launch in March.
