DreamWorks Animation has pushed back the release of How to Train Your Dragon 3 to 2017.

Delaying the film by a year, the studio has announced that the new release date for the film will be June 9th, 2017.

DreamWorks and Fox made the announcement when they revealed that How to Train Your Dragon 2 had become the highest grossing animated film of the year, crossing $600 million worldwide.

Variety confirms that the third installment of the Dragon franchise will arrive from the same creative team as the first two films, with writer-director Dean DeBlois and producer Bonnie Arnold onboard.

How to train Your Dragon 3 will also see the return of a voice cast featuring Jay Baruchel as Hiccup, America Ferrera as Astrid and Cate Blanchett as Valka.
