Ignition revs up with Jim Henson partnership

Agency to represent Fraggle Rock in the UK; key licensing categories being eyed up.

Ambitious Ignition Licensing has been appointed by The Jim Henson Company to represent Fraggle Rock in the UK.

The classic show - which originally aired more than 25 years ago from 1983 to 1987 - has a newly revised style guide, with the characters having received fresh treatments using vintage icons and retro designs.

In the US, there is already a high-end merchandising programme, with a Fraggle Rock Forever fashion collection by LA-based designers Dr Romanelli and Pascal Mouawad, plus a jewellery line from Anita Ko. Both ranges launched in exclusive retailers, Kitson in LA and Collette in Paris last Christmas.

Meanwhile, in the UK, first licensees include Manhattan Toy for plush and puppets, Rasta Imposta for dress up, Fashion UK for apparel and Hype for greetings cards.

The show continues to air regularly on Cartoon Network.

"Ignition is delighted to be representing Fraggle Rock," said licensing manager, Sam Booth. "We are confident that the brand will reignite interest from adult fans who loved and grew up with the show originally, and appeal to a new generation of kids experiencing it for the first time."

The firm is in discussions with a number of partners in the gifting and collectibles, stationery, apparel, accessories, publishing and homewares categories.
