BBC Worldwide's pre-school hit In the Night Garden is continuing to spread its global reach, with the firm revealing that it has sold the show to Gulli and Tiji in France, taking the total TV sales so far to 24 countries including Canada, Australia and Spain.
Neil Ross Russell, MD of Children's and Licensing for BBC Worldwide, said: "The global success of In The Night Garden has been phenomenal and this deal in France gives us yet another opportunity to build the franchise and provide valuable revenue to be invested back into programming and services at the BBC."
ITNG has been a huge pre-school success story in the UK and this success is now spreading globally. As well as France, in Europe the show has been sold to Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Denmark, Serbia, Sweden and Lithuania.
The programme has also sold to the Middle East including Iran and Israel, South Africa and India. Recent sales in Asia include the media company Everyshow in Korea, Malaysia on RTM and Singapore on Kids Central, as well as to Hong Kong and Taiwan.
ITNG is also very strong in Australia, where it airs on ABC1, and has also sold to New Zealand. The show launched on Canada's Treehouse back in February, as well as Trinidad in South America.
