ITV Studios Global Entertainment has appointed two new licensees for iconic TV drama The Prisoner.

First up, Factory Entertainment has signed up as the master toy licensee for multiple categories. The deal covers the upcoming AMC and ITV Studios remake of the show - which stars Jim Caviezel and Ian McKellen - along with the original 1960's series featuring Patrick McGoohan.

Factory will release action figures, prop replicas, trading cards and die-cast, with products beginning to launch internationally from winter 2009 and in the UK in spring 2010.

"We're delighted to be announcing this new licence with Factory in the lead up to Brand Licensing Europe," said Victoria Preston, senior licensing manager at ITV Studios Global Entertainment. "The Prisoner is an incredibly powerful and unique TV brand. We believe the wide and varied collection of master toy products will captivate audiences of all ages."

Meanwhile, Penguin Books will be republishing Thomas Disch's 1969 novel The Prisoner. It will arrive in the autumn and features newly created packaging and tie-in art.

Stephen Morrison, editor in chief and associate publisher at Penguin, said: "We're excited to bring The Prisoner back into print, attracting new readers to this science fiction classic."
