Jakks Pacific has inked a worldwide master toy agreement to create toys and related products based on the Discovery Kids brand.
The deal - which was sealed by licensing agent Big Tent Entertainment - means that Jakks will launch products that encompass the Discovery Kids' brand values that inspire children to learn and interact with the world around them.
It has the rights to sell its line for the first time a major mass market retailers, and expects to ship next autumn. Products will include activity sets, science kits, microscopes, role play sets, arts and crafts, electronic learning aids, Plug n Play TV games, outdoor, radio controlled vehicles and puzzles.
"Families trust Discovery Kids programming and products, with parents viewing them as inspirational and educational, and children viewing them as interesting, exciting and cool," said Jack Friedman, Jakks' chairman and CEO.
"We are working to make the products unique and engaging to deliver toys and play accessories that are both smart and fun. We want to help kids and parents learn how to explore the fascinating world around them."
