Jakks up in Q3

Key licences like Disney Princess and Hannah Montana perform for the firm.

Toy company Jakks Pacific has revealed its results for the third quarter and first nine months ending September 20th 2008.

Q3 sales were $357.8 million, compared with $318.4 million in the comparable period last year. Net income for the third quarter was $54.1 million, compared with $47.3 million in Q3 2007.

Net sales for the nine months ending September 30th, meanwhile, stood at $634.1 million, compared to $572.0 million during the same period in 2007. Net income was $59.2 million.

Jakks reported solid sales from its dolls, action figures, role play, activity toys and electronics categories, with licences such as Hannah Montana, Disney Princess and Cabbage Patch Kids performing well.

"We remain confident that our vast and diverse product line, based on classic and known licences, as well as new internally developed initiatives, will peform for Jakks and our retail partners," said Jack Friedman, chairman and CEO of the company. "Thus far we are seeing positive momentum for a strong full year for our business."
