X-Men: Days of Future Past hasn’t even hit cinemas yet, but producers at 20th Century Fox are already considering numerous spin-off films.

To date, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is the only character to be the focus of spin-off movies, but with Mystique taking a pivotal role in the new film, rumours are suggesting that Jennifer Lawrence’s shapeshifting character next to step out alone.

“I love what Jennifer Lawrence has done with [Mystique],” producer and writer of X-Men: First Class, Simon Kinberg, said.

“I feel like because she is in such a crowded ensemble, there’s so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo.”

Among those rumoured to be under consideration by 20th Century Fox for further spin-offs are Gambit and Deadpool.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, producer of the X-Men films, Lauren Shuler Donner, said: “I’d like to do Gambit. I’d like to do Deadpool. We’ll see. There’s a lot of really great characters.”
