Jetix lends weight to Literacy Stars drive

Popular TV characters to be used in National Schools Partnership push to help kids read and write.

Jetix UK's characters are to be used in the new Literacy Stars campaign, which is aiming to help pre-school children with reading and writing skills.

The tie up with the National Schools Partnership will see some 200,000 primary school pupils take part in the drive from January 14th. Literacy Stars is a cross-curricular DVD/activity pack designed to fire pupils' imaginations and develop their reading and writing across Maths, Literacy, Science, Geography, Design Technology and Art.

Downloadable activity sheets for five to seven year-olds containing a number of exercises will be used in conjunction wtih a class DVD and sticker 'reward' sheets, all featuring characters from Jetix shows Grossology, Power Rangers Operation Overdrive and Yin Yang Yo.

"As a responsible kids broadcaster we are continually looking for ways our characters can stimulate and unleash viewers imagination," said Boel Ferguson, MD at Jetix UK. "I'm therefore delighted that in working with the National Schools Partnership our popular characters can excite kids about learning such fundmentals as reading and writing."
