A graduate with a distinction from Great Yarmouth Art College, Keith Chapman spent his early years working as an art director in advertising - drawing cartoon strips, caricatures and greetings cards in his spare time.
From there he moved to Jim Henson International where he designed Muppet related products and worked on programmes such as Fraggle Rock and Muppet Babies.
Drawing on experience, Chapman went on to create Bob the Builder, who made his television debut in 1999 turning ten next year.
Chapman Entertainment was formed in 2002 by the trio, Chapman, executive producer Greg Lynn, MD and commercial and financial director, Andrew Haydon. It is a rapidly growing company specialising in the creation, production and IP management of original children’s and family entertainment properties.
The company’s first show was Fifi and the Flowertots, which now runs daily on Five’s Milkshake! and Nick jr and it then went on to produce Roary The Racing Car in 2007.
Creativity is key for Chapman and the business and there is a raft of future projects for a range of age groups in development including the futuristic, state of the art CGI animated series, Trooper Tom.
On Chapman‘s 50th birthday, Greg Lynn commented: “The success that Keith has achieved throughout his career is down to his passion, dedication and talent. Not only is he a great guy but he is an excellent family man and hardworking partner.”
Andrew Haydon continued: “Keith is the best in the business in his field. It has been great working with him the past six years. We have a lot of fun in the office and I think that’s his secret to maintaining youthful looks – or maybe he just gets it from me.”
