Kidz Entertainment is making its first foray into the gifts sector, having acquired the rights to design-led property Little Ewe.
The deal - brokered by Rob Corney at Bulldog Licensing - means Kidz will represent the brand in the Nordic region and throughout Eastern Europe.
Kidz's plan is to launch an initial line of Little Ewe cards, probably in autumn 2008, and then move into gifts and related areas. The firm is aiming to get one major retailer on board for each region to launch the full gift line.
"This is a very exciting new direction for Kidz Entertainment," said CEO Anna Lisa McBride. "It is something we have been considering for some time and Little Ewe is such an adorable property we believe it is the perfect vehicle with which to enter this market."
Little Ewe is the creation of World of Wishes - represented worldwide by Bulldog - and is a sheep who has wandered away from the flock and got lost. On his travels he meets up with friends such as Popcorn Pig and Lilac Moo, the cow. Whenever he meets his friends, they give him a hug to help him on his journey.
"Hugs are key to the concept behind Little Ewe which is one reason why it is the perfect gift property," McBride added. "The reaction we have had from the industry so far has been extremely encouraging."
Bulldog's Rob Corney added: "Little Ewe is one of the best properties I have ever seen for the cute sector and is generating great opportunities in the licensing world everywhere. We are working with some of the industry's best companies and are delighted that an agency with the reputation of Kidz Entertainment has joined us to take Little Ewe even further on his journey."
