Lawless Entertainment has added The Little Prince to its portfolio - picking up the rights to represent the brand in the US and Canada.

The Little Prince novella was first published in 1943 and is the most famous work of French writer, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It is both the most read and most translated book in the French language, and was voted the best book of the 20th century in France, maintaining sales of over one million copies per year worldwide.

Translated into more than 250 languages and dialects, with sales totalling more than 200 million copies, it has become one of the best selling books ever published.

Lawless will introduce a range of licensed merchandise into the North American marketplace based on the classic brand and animation series. It will also seek retail partnerships with various department stores and specialty chains.

"Lawless is thoroughly honored to be able to work with such a beautiful property," said Cathy Malatesta, president of the firm.
