Games industry chatter has been going on for some time, and now Warner Bros and TT Games have confirmed that a Lego Batman video game is on its way.

Next gen, current gen and PC platforms will all boast a version of the game, with Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment serving as the EMEA publisher, including all sales and distribution functions.

Players will be able to explore an interactive Lego Gothan City as Batman and Robin, capturing the villains - including The Joker and The Penguin - or taking control of them.

"Batman spans several generations as one of the most popular DC Super Heroes and Lego Batman will appeal to several generations of gamers who grew up idolising the Dark Knight and playing with Lego toys," said Samantha Ryan, senior VP of development and production at WBIE.

Paul Levitz, president and publisher of DC Comics, added: "There's nothing more appealing to our youngest fans than the chance to be Batman - and the Lego Batman video game will provide a unique opportunity for them to immerse themselves in Gotham and Batman's adventures."
