LIMA and Hong Kong Trade Development Council strengthen ties at BLE 2013

LIMA strengthened its ties with the Hong Kong trade over BLE 2013 thanks to a partnership with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

LIMA's Global Networking Party, held at The Mayfair Hotel during BLE, was sponsored for the first time by the HKTDC, and saw close to 200 executives from the international licensing industry attend.

Elsewhere, LIMA and the HKTDC co-hosted a seminar at BLE, in which Raymond Yip (pictured above), assistant executive director of HKTDC, highlighted the potential for the growth of licensed products in the Asia-Pacific region.

“HKTDC was delighted to sponsor LIMA’s Global Networking Party," said David Marsden, director UK, Benelux & Ireland, at the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

"It was a wonderful networking occasion and it further reinforced the close relationship we enjoy with LIMA.

"Together with the Hong Kong seminar at Brand Licensing Europe earlier in the day the reception was a great way of highlighting the huge growth expected in the licensing market in Asia, and Hong Kong’s advantages as a platform for doing business in the region.”

China is the world’s fastest growing market for licensed goods, which grew over 250 per cent from US$1.1 billion in 2005 to US$ 3.9 billion in 2010.

LIMA UK’s recent survey of British licensing professionals found that 20 per cent of respondents said China would be one of their top three export markets in 2014.

“The vibrant and international feel to BLE this year translated to LIMA's Global Networking Party - all setting the stage for HKTDC success," added Kelvyn Gardner, managing director, LIMA UK.
