Finland is hosting its first ever professional licensing event - and LIMA UK MD Kelvyn Gardner has been lined up as one of the speakers to give delegates insight into the sector.

LISENSSI=BISNES will take place in Helsinki on March 14th and has been organised by the Association of Agents and Managers in Creative Industries.

It is an all-day event with a programme of speakers ranging from senior executives at licensors and licensees to specialist consultants, government advisors and journalists from Finland and around Europe.

Delegates will start in the main hall with a morning programme and can then choose from speakers in four separate halls focusing on either Food and Drink, Travel and Health Services, Products and Merchandise, and Textile and Clothing in the afternoon.

Gardner will be providing delegates with the latest insights into the international licensing market, using data from LIMA's annual licensing survey. He will also discuss consumer research into attitudes about licensing and highlight its benefits to manufacturers and brand owners.

"Finland already has a number of licensing success stories, with brand owners such as Rovio, Fiskars Home and Rabbit Films enjoying international success through their licensing programmes," Gardner commented. "The Finnish government is also trying to encourage licensing and IP business through measures such as tax concessions.

"Despite this, licensing as a distinctive and beneficial business tool is still relatively unknown within Finland, so this event will be an excellent opportunity for business leaders and the licensing community to hear success stories and learn about strategies to build a brand both within the Nordic region and beyond."
