Industry trade body LIMA UK is to launch a series of webinars, following their success in the US market.

The first webinar - Understanding UK and European Law and their impact on licensing agreements - will be held on Tuesday October 11th from 5pm to 6.30pm (GMT).

Hosted by expert solicitors in IP law and the licensing business, the webinar will aim to shed light on the key characteristics of the British and European legal systems and how they impact on the licensing industry.

The webinar hosts are John Burns, partner at Gateley and Christian Fortmann, partner at 24IP Law Group.

Free to LIMA members, the 90-minute seminar is also open to non-members for a small charge.

To register simply click here, or for more information contact LIMA's membership services manager, Saphia Maxamed on 01908 802863 or email her by clicking here.

"A key driver for this webinar session has been the increase of US brands sourcing licensees in the UK," explained Gateley's John Burns. "Critically, a number of provisions that are seen as standard in the US licensing agreement may not be enforceable in the UK and, therefore, it's important to understand and recognise the difference in law.

"This session will save you wasting time and costs negotiating provisions that, at the end of the day, may be entirely ineffectual."
