The first Licensing Essentials Course and networking event organised solely by LIMA was a huge success, the trade body has confirmed.
Held earlier in December, the sell-out course saw nearly 70 people listen to a programme of speakers covering topics such as best practice, new trends in licensing and merchandising, plus legal and financial aspects and how social media is impacting the industry.
The popular licensing debate, leading into the Winter Warmer networking evening, was attended by nearly 120 people. Panellists were Fluid World's Andrew Lane, Mothercare's Barbara Robinson, Mike Redfern from Blueprint Designs and John Burns from Warner Bros Consumer Products.
A raffle, with the top prize of a pair of Harrods limited edition Wizard of Oz shoes, also took place.
"The event really exceeded our expectations," said Saphia Maxamed, LIMA member services manager. "This was the first event solely organised by LIMA and we were truly gratified at the response both from members and from companies new to LIMA."
LIMA is now planning the Spring Fling which is due to take place in May 2011.
