Locutio Voice Technologies is teaming up with Sesame Workshop to bring a number of character voices to satnav systems in English speaking territories and select countries around the world.

Bert and Ernie are the first Sesame Street characters to feature in TomTom and Garmin personal navigation devices, with Cookie Monster and Oscar the Grouch following shortly.

"Sesame Street is as relevant and loved today as it was when it debuted in 1969," said Chris Hilton, CEO of Locutio. "We are thrilled to have developed the newest GPS voices for TomTom and Garmin. The Bert and Ernie product even features a creative first - two characters actually speaking together in one GPS offering."

Risa Greenbaum, assistant VP of international licensing at Sesame Workshop, added: "Whether at home or on the road, the Sesame Street friends can be a part of every new adventure. We are pleased to work with Locutio to make every trip a fun and safe one."
