A number of new international broadcast deals have been secured by Icon Animation for girl's property Lola & Virginia.

In Finland, commercial broadcaster MTV3 has picked up the series, a deal that follows the sale of the show to TV2 Norway at MipTV earlier this year. Meanwhile, Greece's 06 TV has acquired the TV and home video rights to Lola & Virginia, while E-MAS in Malaysia picked up the show for broadcast on public channel RTM.

In Latin America, home video distributor and merchandising agent Tycoon has acquired the home video rights for Mexico and Central America. Lola & Virginia currently airs on Nickelodeon Latin America and SBT in Brazil.

Lola & Virginia has sold worldwide in more than 40 territories to broadcasters that include RTVE, France 3, RTP, as well as Nickelodeon in Latin America, Asia and France and the Disney Channels in Spain and Italy.

It is supported by a licensing and merchandising strategy that includes a deal for Spain and Portugal with Comercial Nim.

Products backing the series include school sets, stationery, backpacks and pencil cases. Comercial Nim is also working with Mendia Marketing on games, t-shirts, beach sets and toiletries.

Icon has also inked a deal with trading card company Panini, which is set to launch a series of products across Spain, Portugal, Italy and Brazil including a sticker stack book, story albums, puzzle and colouring books. The roll out will begin in Italy.

Grupo Edebe has already launched ten manga-style comic books in Spain and mobile content provider Alvento is distributing ring tones, games, images, screen savers and a WAP portal for the brand.

Finally, Icon is producing online games for the Lola & Virginia website, which is available in Spanish, English and Catalan and is currently being localised into Italian and Portuguese.
