London 2012 mascots Wenlock and Mandeville are to feature in a special edition of The Beano this week.
The story - which is in the issue out today (August 31st) - follows the characters learning to swim. Wenlock and Mandeville will then feature in further issues of The Beano in the lead up to the Games. Stories of the mascots' journies across the UK learning different sports in time for the Olympic and Paralympic Games will be included.
"This is another exciting way that we are bringing the mascots' experiences of meeting new people and trying new sports to millions of young people across the UK," said LOCOG chair, Seb Coe. "This is a creative way to engage children in the Olympic and Paralympic values."
Wenlock and Mandeville were unveiled last year and since then have been involved in a number of activities. The new online 'make your mascot' customiser has seen over 19,000 versions of the mascots made.
Further online games are also due to be launched in September, including a mascot music maker game featuring a mascot song.
