Marvel vs Capcom merchandising drive on way

Hit video games franchise to be given the consumer products treatment by Marvel.

Marvel Entertainment is launching a consumer products drive for hit video games franchise, Marvel vs Capcom.

The development of the co-branded programme follows the release of Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 last month.

A number of partners are already on board, including Mad Engine for apparel including t-shirts and sweatshirts (pictured); Philcos Enterpriser for tees exclusively in Canada; and Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles for Marvel vs Capcom Minimates.

Hollywood Collectibles Group will debut high-end collectible statue sets, with each set including one character from each Universe. Product will be available from September.

Meanwhile, Mad Catz has released the Arcade Fightstick: Tournament Edition for Fate of Two Worlds, while Udon will unveil an art book this summer featuring a compilation of existing Marvel vs Capcom imagery, along with all-new commissioned art from comic artists.

"Fans have been clamouring to get their hands on all things Marvel vs Capcom, so we wanted to unveil a merchandise programme that took their gaming experience to a whole new level," said Paul Gitter, president of consumer products for North America at Marvel Entertainment.
