Mashimaro goes mobile

The Korean production and licensing company CLKO Entertainment and mobile media outfit Player X are joining forces.

According to C21, the two firms have inked a global licensing deal to make animated Korean kids property Mashimaro available on mobile platforms. It is the first deal for the brand outside of Asia, with more currently being negotiated.

CLKO Entertainment is a key player in Korea’s animation and licensing sector, according to the reported, with Mashimaro being one of its main creations.

Player X specialises in games, video and TV, with its content available to a global distribution network of some 140 channels across operators, portals and handset manufacturers.

Mashimaro was originally developed for flash animation to appear online. However, the character turned out to be so popular it now appears on over 3,000 products in Korea.
