Cartoon Network Enterprises has tapped global toymaker Mattel to create a range of Barbie fashions inspired by its hit IP, The Powerpuff Girls.

It is part of a trench of new signings for the popular animated series with partners joining from around the world as the brand celebrates its 20 anniversary this year.

New episodes, events and products will roll out throughout the year and continue into 2019. The announcement comes at the beginning of Licensing Expo, held in Las Vegas.

New licensing partnerships in the US include Mattel and its Barbie fashions line, while Champion will launch a collection of The Powerpuff Girls in limited edition fleece and heritage silhouettes for autumn this year.

Elsewhere, Mondo T’s will introduce a variety of The Powerpuff Girls pin and high-end prints and revealed earlier this month, The LEGO Group will introduce new building sets in August.

Licensing partners for The Powerpuff Girls in Latin America will expand to include Havaianas in Brazil, Cremer and its Powerpuff Girls personal care products, Dentro da Historia and its collection of published titles and Amazonia’s coconut water.

New and expanding fashion collaborations for The Powerpuff Girls in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, include the likes of Sabrina Pilewicz, Undiz, Textiss, Katie Eary and Bizuu.

“Fans have been following the adventures of The Powerpuff Girls for 20 years and with these fresh new products, they can continue to showcase their passion for the brand,” said Pete Yoder, vice president, Cartoon Network Enterprises for North America.

“All of our partners captured the Powfactor of this enduring brand and we are thrilled to share this milestone anniversary with them.”
