MGA Entertainment and Nickelodeon are moving the Lalaloopsy brand into the animation world, with a new pre-school series set to debut on the network in the spring.
Based on the best selling toy line, the half hour series features the original eight Lalaloopsy characters including Crumbs Sugar Cookie, Mittens Fluff n Stuff, Bea Spells-a-Lot, Pillow Featherbed, Jewel Sparkles, Peanut Big Top, Spot Splatter Splash and Dot Starlight.
The characters magically came to life when their last stitch was sewn, with personalities based on the fabrics that were used to make them.
The Lalaloopsy TV series is co-produced by MGA Entertainment and Moonscoop Productions.
"Kids adore the Lalaloopsy line and will now be able to engage with these characters in a whole new way when we bring them to life on TV for the first time," said Teri Weiss, EVP of production and development, Nickelodeon Pre-school. "The Lalaloopsy world is filled with magic and surprises that will delight pre-schoolers, while teaching important lessons about teamwork and friendship."
Isaac Larian, CEO of MGA, added: "Lalaloopsy is a major, global growing brand. Besides toys, Lalaloopsy has attracted over 200 blue chip licensing partners such as Activision, Scholastic and Fab to name only a few.
"We are delighted to partner with Nickelodeon. The series is certain to fuel the brand to new heights."
