Komixx Entertainment has been recommissioned by Channel 5's Milkshake to produce a second series of pre-school show, Toby's Travelling Circus.
Notably, the channel has recommissioned the show before the first episode of the first series, scheduled for broadcast in autumn 2012, even airs.
Toby's Travelling Circus is based around a seven year-old boy who runs his own magical travelling circus with friends. Principal photography is already underway for the first episodes at Mackinnon & Saunders in Manchester, while Komixx will now create a further 52 ten-minute programmes for broadcast beyond 2013.
"We are delighted with Channel 5's decision to back the show for a second series so soon - it's testament to what is a British success story in the making," said Andrew Cole-Bulgin, joint CEO and head of film and TV at Komixx.
Jessica Symons, head of children's at Channel 5 Milkshake, added: "It is unusual to commission a second series before the first show airs, but we are so impressed by the strength of the stories and characters that we know Toby's Travelling Circus is really going to be a big hit."
