Opening in China over the weekend, Minions has passed Toy Story 3 and become the second highest growing animated movie.
Entertainment Weekly reports the film earned the biggest opening day for an animated film ever in China. The films box office total in now at $1.08 billion worldwide, making it the fifteenth biggest film ever.
Minions is another hit in a string of successes for Universal, which had had other box offices hits including Jurassic World, Furious 7, Fifty shades of Grey and Straight Outta Compton. In August, the studio officially crossed $5.53 billion at the global box office, setting the record for the highest-grossing year ever for a movie studio.
