Popular pre-school property Pocoyo is heading to Mexico following a deal between creator Zinkia and Mexican media company Grupo Televisa.
The series will debut this summer on Latin American broadcaster Televisa, which will also handle all TV and licensing rights for the show in Mexico. A toy deal is currently being negotiated, with the aim of getting toys onto retail shelves by Christmas.
A home entertainment deal has also been signed with DVD distributor Tycoon, with the first DVD collection arriving in August.
Other Latin American deals signed by Zinkia for Pocoyo include a pan-Latin American publishing agreement with Planeta and a deal with Exim, which is handling all Latin America territories excluding Mexico.
Pocoyo is co-produced by Zinkia and Granada International, which handles worldwide distribution rights with the exclusion of Spain, Portugal, Italy and Latin America, where rights are managed by Zinkia.
