MIPTV 2010: Hit extends VOD offering

Number of video on demand deals inked around the globe for key brands.

Hit Entertainment has struck a raft of video on demand deals around the world, further extending the reach of its brand portfolio.

In the UK, Hit has extended and expanded its long-standling relationship with BT Vision. A new VOD deal will provide audiences with over 58 hours of programming from the firm's core brands, including Angelina Ballerina, Barney and Bob the Builder.

The firm has also completed its first VOD deal in Italy. Fastweb has acquired over 60 hours of programming from Thomas & Friends, Fireman Sam, Pingu and Rubbadubbers among others.

In Turkey, TTNET will screen Bob, Pingu and Barney from May. The deal is another breakthrough for Hit, with Turkish audiences being able to access the firm's content on VOD for the first time.

Deals have also been struck in Malaysia (with TMNET), Hong Kong (PCCW), Korea (HomeChoice), Taiwan (Mighty Media) and Japan (J:COM On Demand/Minna-no Theatre Wii).

"As the availability and popularity of VOD services have increased, so has the appetite for our programming," said Alison Homewood, EVP worldwide programming at Hit Entertainment.
