MIPTV: Julius Jr. heads to Italy

Saban Brands has signed a new broadcast distribution agreement for its animated preschool series, Julius Jr., to air on Disney Junior in Italy.

The series, inspired by characters of Paul Frank, will premiere this spring.

The deal will also expand to additional countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa in the near future.

MarVista Entertainment negotiated the agreement in partnership with Saban Brands.

“Disney Junior delivers high quality and trusted programming to children and families,” said Frederic Soulie, senior vice president of global distribution, Saban Brands.

“We are very pleased to be partnering with a leader in the children’s category who can bring to life the magical and creative storytelling of Julius Jr.”

Fernando Szew, CEO, MarVista Entertainment, added: Based on the Paul Frank family of characters, Julius Jr. and his friends are instantly recognisable to fans around the world and we’re certain that preschoolers in Italy will enjoy the magical inventions and amazing adventures of Julius and his pals."

Julius Jr. premiered in the U.S. on Nick Jr. in September 2013, and is also set premiere on TF1 in France and Discovery Kids Latin America later this year.
