St Andrew Links has added to its select licensing programme, appointing Italian writing instrument manufacturer Montegrappa.
The firm will be producing a range of fountain, roller ball and ballpoint pens, plus retractable pencils branded St Andrews Links, The Home of Golf.
The deal was brokered for St Andrews Links by CPLG Sport, with the range launch timed to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the Open Championship in summer 2010.
The colleection will aim to reflect the history and beauty of the Home of Golf, with the pens selling upwards of £300. They will typically be stocked by retailers such as Selfridges, Harrods and Mappin & Webb.
"We are delighted to be working with a company with the history and heritage of Montegrappa," said Danny Campbell, commercial director at St Andrews Links. "This licence extends our world famous brand into an area where the owners of the pens can appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship of Montegrappa's products, just as those who play our courses appreciate the legacy of 600 years of golfing history."
Gary Jacobson, commercial manager at CPLG Sport, added: "The exceptional brand values of The Home of Golf align perfectly with those of Montegrappa."
