Monty Python has re-released 'Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life' as an unofficial England football song ahead of the World Cup.

The re-release comes with a new World Cup-themed verse and is now available to download on iTunes.

The new lyrics include: ‘When you’re in the World Cup, And all your hopes are up, And everybody wants their team to win.

‘Then they go and let you down, And come slinking back to town, It’s time for this daft song to begin.’

The song first appeared in the final sequence of Monty Python’s The Life of Brian and has since become established as a favourite sing-along at both funerals and sporting events.

A statement reads that the orginal song has 'already become a part of the repertoire of England fans experiencing deflating failures at major international tournaments'.
