Moshi Monsters tops Nintendo DS charts

Handheld game becomes longest ever number one in chart history for the format.

It was only launched six months ago, but the debut Moshi Monsters video game has already notched up the most time spent at number one in the Nintendo DS chart ever.

Moshi Monsters: Moshling Zoo was published by Activision in November 2011. Since then, the game has held the top position in the Nintendo DS listing for a record breaking 15 consecutive weeks.

It has had to fight off competition from the likes of Mario Kart DS, New Super Mario Bros, Professor Layton and the Spectre's Call and Pokémon Black.

"This is the first video game we've ever published at Mind Candy, so we're delighted and amazed by how well it has done," commented Michael Acton Smith, creator and CEO of Moshi Monsters. "We're lucky to have such a passionate fan base of Moshi players."

The game offers fans a fresh take on the Moshi Universe, featuring new locations and an exclusive new Moshling, Nipper the Titchy Trundlebot.
