Chorion, Penguin Group and Egmont have revealed a comprehensive TV tie-in publishing programme to support The Mr Men Show.
The show debuted earlier this year on Cartoon Network in the US, Five's Milkshake in the UK and, most recently, France 5 and ABC in Australia. Now, Price Stern Sloan, a division of Penguin Young Readers Group, and Egmont UK are turning the show into a line of books.
The Penguin Group has world English language publishing rights to the Mr Men and Little Miss and The Mr Men Show and will collaborate with Egmont - the Commonwealth publisher of Mr Men and Little Miss - on the publishing push.
Both will offer classic and TV tie-in ranges and, in spring 2009, The Mr Men Show books programme will be launched with 8x8s, readers, sticker stories and other formats.
"Mr Men and Little Miss is one of Penguin's core publishing properties and we are enthusiastic about expanding it into new formats and reaching new audiences," said Don Weisberg, president of Penguin Young Readers Group.
In Australia, Penguin will publish books for The Mr Men Show, which debuted in July on ABC.
Alison Faulkner, Chorion's worldwide publisher manager, added: "The Mr Men Show has successfully maintained the spirit of the original books while simultaneously reimagining the brand for today's audience. The introduction of these new TV tie-in books will offer a new way for fans to enjoy this beloved franchise."
