The High School Musical phenomenon continues - with the premiere of the second film on BBC1 on Good Friday ranking at number one in its timeslot, giving the channel a massive boost.
The film aired at 4.05pm on Friday March 21st, attracting an audience of 2.6 million individuals aged four and older, of which 772,000 were kids aged four to 15.
High School Musical 2 also ranked as the number one movie for kids aged four to 15, with a share of 39.7 per cent in all UK homes. It also held a share of 16.7 per cent among individuals aged four and older, according to Worldscreen.
Since premiering on Disney Channel in the US, HSM2 has reached 191 million unduplicated viewers worldwide, including 86.8 million in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
When HSM2 launched on the Disney Channel in the UK in August 2007, it became the highest rated Disney Channel original movie.
High School Musical 3: Senior Year is due to be released in the UK in October and will be backed with a hefty licensing and merchandising campaign.
