Time spent in licensing:
Ten years

First job in licensing:
It was this one. I had to work out how to run a business from scratch.

What were your responsibilities?
I've always done pretty much everything from managing design, operations and sales process. Oh, and making tea.

Current job in licensing:
Jointly managing Character World with my brother Mark. We now have a team of 50 working on a range of brands aimed at the children's and adult markets.

What are your responsibilities?
We oversee the strategic direction of Character World, deciding which licences to go for to grow the company in the right direction.

What is your greatest achievement?
It has to be consistently growing over the last ten years.

What is the best licence you have worked on so far in your career?
It would probably be The Simpsons, as it was out first break into the big time.

What licence would you most like to have in your portfolio?
Manchester City FC - the richest and most powerful football club in the world.

if you could choose your dream job in licensing, what would it be and why?
I am in it! I couldn't imagine doing anything else. Every day is different - working in a fun environment, dealing with children's licences, surrounded by bright images and a lively creative team.

What is the best thing about working in the licensing industry?
Quality people, there are some great personalities in this business. I get to meet a diverse range of characters all over the world such as BBC, Marvel and Disney.
