A new safe email service for children and families is being launched by MyBrandEmail in collaboration with kidSAFE.
MBE was successfully certified by the kidSAFE Seal programme back in 2013. This is an independent certification service and seal of approval programme that reviews and certifies the safety and privacy practices of children-friendly websites and applications.
The kidSAFE.email system includes a robust Parental Control Account where parents or guardians can control all aspects of the child's email account.
On set up, the new email account cannot be used to send or receive emails until pre-approved contacts are added into the Safe List. When activated, only those people listed on the account's Safe List are able to send emails to the child's email address and receive email from the child.
In addition, all emails sent and received on the child's email address are blind copied to the parental email address.
Parents are also able to access and manage their child's account data, update contact details, change their child's password, disable the account temporarily, re-enable the account and delete the account.
"I'm excited at the potential kidSAFE.email has with offering safe and robust email accounts to children," said Dickie Armour, general manager at MyBrandEmail. "The service gives parents huge peace of mind that they can monitor all communications their child has via their email."
Shai Samet, founder and president of kidSAFE, added: "We are thrilled MyBrandEmail has agreed to launch this new service with kidSAFE.
"kidSAFE.email will be a great, ad-free alternative to Gmail, Yahoo and other popular email systems, but without the need for parents to lie about their child's age during sign up. The service is also ideal for schools and teachers looking to offer an age-appropriate email account system for their students."
