Babar brand manager Nelvana Enterprises has agreed a deal with New York’s Hôtel Plaza Athénée for a year-long Barbar promotion.
As part of the brand’s 80th anniversary celebrations, the deal means the hotel will now offer special Babar gift baskets, entertainment and promotional items for its guests.
Those who book the Hôtel Plaza Athénée children’s package will receive the special Babar gift basket which includes 80th anniversary Babar plush and other exclusive Babar merchandise.
Babar DVDs will be available to guests as in-room entertainment and the Hôtel Plaza Athénée will also play host to a special Babar festive fete at the end of the year.
“We’re delighted to establish Hôtel Plaza Athénée, a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, as Babar’s home away from home,” said Andrew Kerr, head of consumer products for Nelvana Enterprises who manage the Babar brand in collaboration with The Clifford Ross Company.
“The partnership provides a unique and memorable opportunity for the youngest set of travelers to be welcomed by the most famous – and fashionable – elephant when they visit the Big Apple this summer and throughout the year.”
The partnership forms only the latest announcement regarding the brand’s 80th anniversary.
Babar has also previously graced the windows and children’s department of the Saks Fifth Avenue, New York City’s largest independent children’s bookstore Books of Wonder, the New York Stock Exchange and at Opening Ceremony as part of a global menswear collaboration with Danish fashion label Soulland.
