With its new action series, Slugterra, due to launch this autumn on Disney XD, Nerds Corp is ramping up its consumer products activities, hiring former Sony and WBCP exec Juli Boylan to head up the division.
Boylan will be at the US Toy Fair this week, seeking licensees to help move the programme forward. A major toy announcement for the property in due to be made shortly, so Boylan will be focusing on additional toy, publishing, interactive and other lead categories.
She joins Nerd Corps from Sony Consumer Products where she was SVP global licensing, managing boys franchises including Spider-man and Ghostbusters. Boylan also enjoyed a stint at Warner Bros Consumer Products, where she worked on the likes of Looney Tunes and the Batman franchise.
"We're very excited to have turned Juli into a Nerd," said Ken Faier, the firm's president. "She brings such a wealth of experience to the table, in both retail strategy and overall brand management, after spending years managing monster boy brands like Spider-man. We know she's exactly the right person to take this property to the heights we believe it can hit."
Boylan added: "I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with such a creative and brilliant group."
