The TV on demand site, Netflix is to lose nearly 500 films and TV titles from its British catalogue this month, due to license expiration.

The service removed 66 titles on New Year's Day, a further two will vanish from the site over January 2nd and 3rd and 407 will vacate the site on January 5th, reports the Telegraph.

Among them, For a Few Dollars More, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Cape Fear and The Untouchables will be making their departures.

Netflix launched to the UK in January 2012 and currently boasts a total around 2,500 titles.

However, 470 of these titles will now expire as the company signs others in their place, with little or no warning to customers.

Joris Evers, director of communications at Netflix, said: "We have a continuous ebb and flow of titles on Netflix and this isn't anything new.

"We always add titles as we secure rights and remove titles as our license expires. We are always looking to provide a great mix of things to watch that our members will love."

Web developer Matthew Morley has produced a list of all the expiring films at the unofficial website, Netflix.maft.com.
