Tracy Beaker star Dani Harmer will front a new TV series commissioned by CBBC and produced by Zodiak Kids’ company The Foundation.
Harmer receives her own estate in Dani’s Castle, which she must restore to a thriving family business. The show comes after the popular series four of Dani’s House, which became the second-highest rated regular series of 2011 in the Friday 5.30pm slot.
Dani’s House also averaged a 16.5 per cent share per episode with the six to 12-year-old demographic.
Dani’s Castle will consist of 13 different 30-minute episodes and will be filmed over the summer in Northern Ireland, before airing on CBBC later this year.
Harmer will have to get the better of the sceptical locals, deal with a pair of ghosts and figure out how to attract visitors to Bogmoor Castle, which has just been voted the No.1 worst visitor attraction for the tenth year running.
Dani’s Castle is produced by Paul McKenzie, the lead writer is Paul Rose and the lead director is Dez McCarthy. The executive producers are Elaine Sperber for The Foundation and Melissa Hardinge for CBBC.
“Dani Harmer is one of the most exciting and successful young actresses on television and this new project will really showcase her unique comedy talents and her growth as a performer,” said executive producer Elaine Sperber.
“Dani has a huge following on CBBC and this new series will be a major treat for her existing and new fans”.
