Channel 5 has signed a deal with Hit Entertainment to air new series of Angelina Ballerina and Fireman Sam.
Two new series of each computer-generated show will air on the channel’s popular pre-school segment Milkshake.
There will be 40 new episodes of Angelina Ballerina in series five and six of Angelina Ballerina The Next Steps, which will start airing in September. 3.3m viewers have tuned in to watch the show so far this year (based on three-plus minutes of continuous reach).
Series six and eight of Fireman Sam will begin airing in October – which include 56 episodes between them.
Alison Homewood, business head for EMEA TV and home entertainment at Hit Entertainment, said: “Following these new acquisitions, Hit now has a trio of programmes airing on Milkshake. We are delighted that the new CGI series of Fireman Sam and Angelina Ballerina will air alongside Milkshake regular Thomas & Friends.”
Jessica Symons, head of children’s at Channel 5, added: “We are delighted to be bringing fresh episodes of Angelina Ballerina and Fireman Sam to our young viewers.
"Milkshake is home to some of the world’s favourite pre-school characters and they don’t come much more popular than Angelina and Sam."
