Warner Bros is developing a new movie based on the iconic animated TV show The Flintstones.

Variety reports that Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are exec producing while The Other Guys screenwriter Chris Henchy is writing the script.

Hanna-Barbera's The Flintstones ran from 1960 to 1966 and was the first animated show to be nominated for a primetime Emmy for comedy series.

The 'modern stone age family' have already appeared on the big screen in The Flintstones back in 1994 and The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas in 2000.

Warner Bros. acquired the rights to The Flintstones as part of Time Warner’s acquisition of Turner Broadcasting back in 1996, and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane was set to create a new Flintstones TV series ready to air in 2013 but the project was delayed.
