The family comedy was launched in 2006 and has continually won ratings in its time slot, becoming one of the top-rated shows for both broadcasters.
The new season of 26 x 30-minute series is currently in production and brings the total number of episodes available to 78. Series three is set to air in the autumn.
Moi j’aime la television and Helion Pictures have taken worldwide DVD and merchandising rights to the new series, which will also be on offer at MIPCOM.
The first two seasons of Genie in the House have now sold in excess of 100 countries with Italian terrestrial channel Mediaset recently picking up both series for broadcast on Italia Uno.
Other broadcasters on board include France Television, RTBF in Belgium, SIC in Portugal, Antena 3 in Spain, MNet Africa, CTC Network for Russia and CIS and comedy series has also been picked up in Germany, Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
Created by Phil Ox, Isabelle Dubernet, Eric Fuhrer and Steven Bawol, Genie in the House combines the talents of French producer Ox from Moi j’aime la télévison and US producer Bawol from Helion Pictures.
Designed for the international market, the programmes have the feel and production values of an American sitcom and are loaded with special effects.
Steven Bawol said: “As the show starts to roll out in new territories we're experiencing the international appeal of the show and we're keen to sign new broadcasters now there are a total of 78 episodes available."
Howard Litton, managing director of Nickelodeon UK, commented: “We’re extremely excited about the third series of Genie in the House and look forward to its continued success on our channel. This commission represents part of the Nickelodeon UK ongoing strategy of increasing levels of original productions.”
The new episodes will be available at MIPCOM through Estelle Lafoy at Happy Audience, which already distributes the DVD rights to the first two series.
